Facebook and Nokia are in talks to create a strategic alliance as Facebook looks to keep expanding into the cellular phone market.

Pioneer Corp., an electronics and high-definition television manufacturer, announced 10,000 job cuts and $1.5b in losses.

There are a few nuggets of good economics news out there this morning. First, retail sales came in better than expected, rising 1% in January. Foreclosures were also down slightly from previous months. And jobless claims were down slightly (although they’re still hovering at record levels).

Stocks are expected to open down slightly.
